Malcolm Frank, Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Marketing Officer of Cognizant and co-author of the 2014 best-seller “Code Halos” and 2017’s “What to do When Machines do Everything” has been announced as keynote speaker at the opening plenary of ENGenious, the new global symposium and exhibition aimed at driving radical digital and technological transformation across the upstream oil and gas industry.

“ENGenious is the must-attend event, as the wave of digital transformation that has transformed so many aspects of our economy is now hitting upstream in a meaningful way,” says Mr Frank. “Making sense of what works – and what doesn’t – in a trusted forum of both industry peers and experts is a competitive necessity. I very much look forward to being a part of the program.”

Malcolm Frank, Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, CognizantMalcolm Frank, Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and Chief Marketing Officer, CognizantMr Frank is a frequent speaker on key issues of digital business. He regularly attends the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos where he has spoken on the topic of how AI, algorithms, big data and robotic process automation is impacting business, jobs, and economic policy. He was named “One of the most influential people in finance” by Risk Management Magazine. He is a graduate of Yale University with a degree in Economics. Cognizant is #195 on the 2018 Fortune 500 and for ten years has been one of Fortune's Most Admired Companies.

Mr Frank’s keynote will focus on the keys that will allow companies to succeed in the next generation of the digital economy. When systems running on Artificial Intelligence can drive cars, diagnose medical patients, and manage finances more effectively than humans it raises profound questions on the future of work and how companies compete. His presentation will be illustrated with real-world cases, data, and insight, and provide clear strategic guidance and actionable steps to help organisations move ahead in a world where exponentially developing new technologies are changing how value is created.

He will take to the stage with Ahmed Hashmi, Global Head of Upstream Technology, BP; Matthias Heilmann, CEO of Digital Solutions and Chief Digital Officer, Baker Hughes, a GE company and Dr.Stephen Cook, Chief Commercial Officer, Group Technology at BP for the opening plenary session on ‘Defining the Opportunity and Seeing the Changes Underway Both in and Outside the Industry’.

ENGenious has been launched by SPE and Reed Exhibitions, the partners behind SPE Offshore Europe, in response to demand from the upstream oil and gas community for an event focused on emerging products, services and techniques with the ability to transform the efficiency of exploration and production activities.

The first edition is being held at AECC, Aberdeen, Scotland from 4 – 6 September 2018. The event will run on alternate years to SPE Offshore Europe. The symposium and exhibition is themed around four topics: Automation & Control Systems, Data Analytics, Robotics and Smart Communications.

ENGenious aims to provide deep technical content and provocative forward-looking strategy discussions. Sessions will highlight the latest reservoir, drilling and production software and technology innovations to enable discovery and learning.
